'Tonka Toy Truck'

From 1949

This is one of the first production runs what can be seen at number '140' printed at the hauler and the way the axel at the front is mounted. Therefor the cab is closed and you can not see the ground.

Added to the collection

'Tonka Tractor Carry All Trailor' #130

From 1949 - 1953

This car will be combined with the Steam Shovel #50 with wheels or tracks.

Originaly the #130 (all blue) has been sold separately.

Combinations with the #50 Steam shovel or #150 Steam Shovel with clam resulted in numbers for the combination like:

#120 (#130 & #50 - wheels)

125 (#130 & #50 - tracks)

#170 (with#130 & #150 - tracks)

Added to the collection

'Livestock Van'

From 1956

Age has been estimated looking at the bumper and grill. The grill has been shaped with a triangular shape in the middle (typical 1956) but the hood doesn't have a hood scoop (typical for 1957)

Added to the collection

'No AC320 Hi-Way Sign Set'

From 1960

This set is unfortunately (still) incomplete. It misses the 'slow - school' and the yellow round sign with a cross and on each side a letter 'R'.

On the other hand the gray sign "Fire Station" is not a part of this set.

Added to the collection

'No 925-6 Farm Stake Truck'

From 1956

This truck is in nicely restored condition and complete with mudflaps etc. I believe this truck was not sold with cows originaly.

Added to the collection

'No 150 Crane and Clam with tracks'

From 1949 - 1951

A Crane and Clam in very nice and complete condition.

Destictions between No 150-wheels (1947) and No 150-tracks (1949-1951) are:

1) The boom is about an inch shorter

2) The bucket is not yellow

3) Mechanism within the cab to lift or lower the boom is all made of metal (the 1947 version had a wooden radar)

4) The yellow cab has been moved backwards so the balance is more stable.

Added to the collection

'No 1348 (Hydraulic) Aerial Ladder Truck'

From 1962 - 1963

This Aerial Fire Truck only has one seperate ladder. It is known that several Aerial Fire Trucks only had 1 ladder.

From 1964 the model 998 Aerial Fire Truck (non hydraulic) carried the two ladders side ways.

Added to the collection

'No 0950-6: Number 5 Suburban Pumper Truck'

From 1956

This is the very first Number 5 Pumper of its kind. This model has been produced between 1956 till 1957. Several changes were made. You recognize the first issued #5 Pumper by the threaded nozzle and absense of the hood scoop (typical for 1957).

Missing: threaded hydrant

Added to the collection

'No 575-4: Logger'

From 1954

This truck has full metal headlights and is all complete.

Added to the collection

'No 700-4: Aerial Ladder Truck' (MFD)

From 1954

This is the very first Aerial Ladder Fire Truck from Tonka. Destinctive marks: MFD on top of the hood. On the doors there is only writen 'No 5', no additional drawings. The aerial ladder / hauler is secured at the semi. Versions following the aerial ladder / hauler could be removed from the semi.

Added to the collection

'No 4930: Road Sign Set'

From approx. 1970 - 1973

This plastic set of signs has: 12 bases / 12 standards / 25 assorted signs (19 available)

This set is longer than the metal "No AC320 Hi-Way Sign Set" from 1960 (about a third).

Added to the collection

'No 120-4 Tractor & Carry All'

From 1954

This carry all trailer has been produced for about one year. In 1955 another type made its appearence. The difference can be found at the rear wheels. The way it's molded onto the Carry All trailer is simular as the 130 Carry All ('49-'53).

Originaly here should fit a 50-4 Steam Shovel nicely. Instead this is a combination with a 50-5 Steam Shovel as found at a in a 1955 "Road Builder set" #775-5. I expect a kind off transition here from one type into the other or that the 1954 type was used for pictures at the 1955 dealer catalogue.

Added to the collection

'No 145(-3) Steel Carrier'

From 1950-1953

The last year it was produced in combination with this cab the catalogue number has changed from 145 to 145-3.

Added to the collection

'Mighty Hydraulic Dump Truck'

From early 70's

This same dump truck has been used at the famous "elephant stepping on the Mighty Dump Truck" commercial. Look at the shiny part in the middle. It's the hydraulic cylinder.

(Edward C from UK, thanks for letting me know!)

Click on the elephant to show the commercial.

Added to the collection

'Custom No 175: Our Own Hardware Utility Truck'

From 1956

Although rusty, still a nice truck. You will not find it in a dealers catalogue of 1956. Age has been estimated looking at the bumper and grill. The grill has been shaped with a triangular shape in the middle (typical 1956) but the hood doesn't have a hood scoop (typical for 1957)

Added to the collection

'No 550 /550-3: Grain Hauler'

From 1952 - 1953

After replacing little taildoor, all complete.

Added to the collection

'Tick Tock Toys specialy made for Firestone'

From (have no idea, expect mid 40's)

Only reason it has been in the collection is the Tick Tock Toys brand. In "True Stories" I describe a wooden steam shovel, probably made by Streater Toys (check it out). The brand name, colors and wheel size do match other claimed wooden Streater toys.

The toy measures: HxWxD

H= 8.6" / 22 cm

W (front-end) = 17.3" / 44 cm

D (rear wheel-rear wheel)= 10.6" / 27 cm

Unfortunately there are no known ways of checking its origin.

Newly added to the collection

'No 200: Power Lift Truck and Trailer'

From 1948 - 1950

In very good restored condition. Missing decalls.

David & Laumann mention in their book an estimate for total production of around 25000 pieces.

Newly added to the collection
